四月五日晚的一阶显得格外的热闹，因为我们迎来了一位特别的来宾,他就是中国日报“China Daily”的副主编黄玉龙先生。他将为高一的学生做一场有关英语学习和读报的报告会。
年仅27岁的黄玉龙先生是“China Daily”，《中国日报》的一位资深编辑。他此行的目的在于激发学生学习英语的积极性并阐明阅读报纸对学习英语的帮助。首先，他以流利的英语做了简短的自我介绍，尤其向学生介绍了自己学习英语的经历和动机，马上吸引了同学们的注意力。接着，他又介绍了中国国内最大的，也是全球发行量最大的以报道中国为主的英文报纸《中国日报》和一系列相关英文报的发展历程。他们的宗旨是让中国了解全球，更让世界了解中国，成为连通英语学习者和世界的坚实桥梁。为了达到此目的，《中国日报》聘请了60余位英美籍撰稿人将其中的新闻报道专业化、标准化。在这些英语报纸当中《21世纪》英文报、《21世纪（中学生版）》等更是受到学生们的欢迎和广泛关注，甚至成为中学生学习英语的首选材料。他告诉在座的每位同学应该多读英文报，因为它可以帮助他们扩充单词量，提高阅读速度及获取大量的信息。
此外，黄先生提到了与同学们切身相关的高考。如何应对高考这道门槛是每个高一学生迟早要面对的事情。所以他结合自己的高考经历，分词汇、听力、阅读、改错及写作的五大板块，告诉同学们应如何科学的、系统的、扎实的学习英语。他精彩的演讲，幽默的辞藻，丰富的表情和肢体语言一次又一次的赢得了同学们的欢笑和掌声，激起了一次又一次的高潮。尤其在最后的“学生提问”的环节中更达到了本次活动的至高点，表现了同学们对英语学习的热情。
通过聆听这次演讲，同学们都或多或少了解的受到启发和鼓舞.应该说这次活动非常成功,也取得了良好的效果。
Come On! Let’s Study English with Newspaper.
On the evening Apr 5th, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M, the students in Senior 1 enjoyed a wonderful speech given by Huang Yulong, in the Lecture Hall 1, Experimental Foreign Language Middle School Affiliated To Tanghu Middle School.
Mr. Huang, aged 27, is one of the talent staff in China Daily. To attract them, he shared his tough but motivate experience of English learning, which successfully pulled his audience close to him. He then informed the students the process of China Daily’s development. He said, at the early period, China Daily was written in English, and published abroad. They were “actively eager to tell the outside world what happens in China”. What they tried to gain was to keep the pace up with the world. He also disclosed that 60 foreigners helped them to polish the articles, just as native writings. They provided plenty of sources, which made the newspaper one of the most abundant ones in China.
21st Educational Weekly by China Daily Newspaper Group is a flagship in China. Up to 11 years ago, in Barcelona Olympics 1993, our government suggested China Daily publish some English papers to university and college students, and teens. The Basic National Education Policy supposed that the kids in China should be taught English as early as possible. Therefore, they punished newspapers in English among students in colleges. Students read English newspapers, and they benefited during the reading. They learn more information around the world. What’s more, they do develop with the newspapers. After a long time reading China Daily, most of them now do well in examination. To enlarge vocabulary is always vital but difficult an English learner. However, you can access it easier during the relaxing moment with China Daily. English learners might find writing another trouble. Making up is more difficult than reciting one. Therefore, reciting is one of the best ways to write a composition. You have to meet the standards of paper-makers. You’ve learnt many sentences patterns, which you must be good at using. During the reading, anyone may find himself exactly improve the reading comprehensive ability.
It’s believed that all the students enjoying Mr. Huang’s lecture have more or less been inspired on English learning.
